Are post-ride wine celebrations a thing? Do bears poop in the woods? Obviously not everyone drinks, but if you’re reading this review there is a good chance you do and after rides spent in the hot sun, we love to sit around our table in the backyard and enjoy a bottle or two of Avinyó Petillant Blanc. First discovering this distinctive Cava from Paul Marcus Wines, it has become a house favorite on warm summer days when you need something cool and refreshing. From the Penedes region of Catalunya, sitting just south of Barcelona, Avinyó is a rarity among Cava producers, making organic wines from indigenous varieties of xarello, parellada, and macabeu. A great value under $20 a bottle, this wine is perfect for casual occasions when bubbles are due.

Avinyó Petillant Blanc is a refreshing Cava with effervescence. Light yellow in color, it has aromas of citrus on the nose. Crisp and dry with notes of honey suckle and green apple on the palate, it is slightly tart on finish leaving your mouth watering and wanting more. Vines that were harvested early due to a challenging year that resulted in droughts and low yields, happen to produce a well-balanced and exceptional wine at Avinyó in Penedès.

This wine is very versatile. Good on its own, it pairs well with sea food, charcuterie, and tapas.
